As we come to the end of 2024 and prepare ourselves for what 2025 has to bring, us lot in the wedding industry are keeping our ear to the ground, researching what's hot in fashion, interior design, food, and experiences so that we are prepared for your Pinterest boards to land in our inboxes. Here at Luna And The Lane, we LOVE this bit. Being very artistic creatures, we like nothing more than using trends to inspire and form experiences. For us, this isn't 'copying' trends, which can actually sometimes be practically impossible due to location, venue and budget. Instead, we use trends to inspire and guide, making sure no wedding looks the same and that you and your guests get not only something which is an amazing experience, but something which reflects YOU, not a inaccessible dream.
So, we have put together our list of some of the things we are most excited about seeing next year.
FLOWER POWER
Flowers can be expensive, right? But, flowers can be one of the most impactful decor elements that you can use. We love flowers and foliage because not only are they fab at creating a statement, but they offer texture and tone to your design. They can be used simply and minimally, such as by running single stems down your tables, to something we particularly love: exciting instillations. Florists love flexing their muscles in this way and a big, bold statement piece creates impact and can both hide something unsightly and draw your eye to a focal point. Not only that, but we love designing how these pieces can be moved, changed and re-purposed throughout the day, meaning that the budget is being used, not abused.
Also, hot in the world of florals next year will be bold pops of colour. Consider a bold clash or a basic tonal palette with a statement flash of colour.
RE-INVENTING TRADITION
When planning your wedding, we love to consider how traditions can be made personal to you, rather than done for the sake of it. Traditions can come and go in the world of weddings, but one thing we are seeing a resurgence of is a good old bouquet toss. This divides people: on one hand we internally weep at the thought of your beautifully crafted bouquet being squished, but then on the other hand, seeing the joy and excitement that comes from the wedding party (this isn't just something for the girls) is palpable...and the action shots of you all grappling to get it are something to behold.
Getting all of your guests to witness you cutting your wedding cake can sometimes be like herding cats. The tradition of cutting a cake is a symbol of your love and commitment to one another; traditionally a public display that you are willing to share everything for the rest of your lives. Doing this just between the two of you could create a more intimate display of unity?
And on the subject of cake...
HAVE YOUR CAKE
Retro and Vintage design is currently running through all sorts elements of modern weddings. Heart-shaped cakes reminiscent of an 80's birthday are having their moment, as well as dome shapes (think Nana's blancmange moulds) and bespoke puddings. However, if you want to make a true statement, find a cake designer who will create a literal work of art: ruffles, fabric-like creations and maximalist designs, all displayed on flowing draping and statement plinths.
PLANNING
When planning your weddings, we always consider yours and your guests' experience at the forefront of all decision making. 2024 certainly saw you all considering how to extend your wedding weekends and we predict this will be a continuous decision for those who are able to. Taking inspiration from those over the pond, more couples are choosing to have a gathering the night before and a chilled event the day after. Why have one day when you can have three?
Personalism is at the heart of what we do. We guarentee that every wedding will look and feel unique. Always consider what makes you both tick, your interests, your values and your life experiences, that way your wedding won't date and look like someone else's in 10 years time.
Micro weddings were something we were forced to do not long ago, but there has always been beauty in having a celebration which is intimate and personal. 2025 looks like it will be the year of elopements, small celebrations and intimate gatherings.
A no-brainer, but worth noting...sustainability. Please keep this trending. There are loads of ways in which you can be conscious of waste and bang on your buck but have the BEST WEDDING EXPERIENCE EVER. If you or your planner isn't thinking about this....well......
VENUE STYLING
Draping is having its moment. There are so many images on Pinterest and Tik Tok of large-scale venues using draping to enhance its features and create architectural elegance, and we are not talking about the odd swathe on the beams. 2025 will see couples using draping in a maximalist way to create spaces, lower ceilings and transform spaces. The impact this has is magnificent, but if your budget doesn't stretch to something bold, consider using draping on your cake table or desert table to create an impact.
Pops of colour have been popular for a while now and will remain trending next year. Use this within your general palette to add a touch of bold or go wild with a colour clash.
Luxe Minimalism - we LOVE this concept and can be used through table styling through to fashion (more on this later). Think beautiful linens with minimal but statement florals, or bare tables with oodles of twinkling candlelight.
As well as bringing a touch of vintage to your cake, why not bring some nostalgia into your prop hire and furniture? Now, we are not talking 2013 burlap and granny lace (at the time it had its moment, I know, I did it). Vintage decor is a brillliant way to create some talking points and cosy corners. We love mismatched vintage dining chairs and retro lounge areas.
FASHION
Corsets and bubble hems are hot on the runway and will be something we see as part of bridal fashion in 2025. These will create a high fashion moment and a silhouette of dreams. Not one for corsets and drop waists? Floral dresses and accessories will also see their time. Whether going for a floral embellished veil or statement earrings, there is always a way to add a soft and romantic element to your styling. Veils will be bigger and bolder, adding a luxe element to the simplest of gowns. And the boys? Tuxes and statement bespoke suits will be your way of creating your moment of luxe.
These are just a few of our favourite trends. We look forward to being inspired with you.
